Autonomous transport for industrial sites
Created through collaboration
A compact, low-speed electric vehicle was developed through a partnership between TIER IV and Yamaha Motor, combining Autoware, open-source software for autonomous driving, with an electric golf cart platform. Designed for customers exploring autonomous transport solutions, the vehicle was first tested at Yamaha Motor’s own production facilities.
Toward mass production
Following the successful deployment at Yamaha Motor’s facilities, eve autonomy, a joint venture between TIER IV and Yamaha Motor, launched in February 2020. This marked the first step toward mass-producing a vehicle powered by Autoware. Since then, Level 4 autonomous operations have been tested and refined at Yamaha Motor’s facilities and other sites.
Expanding adoption
Commercial operations of the eve auto service began in December 2022, offering a solution to labor shortages and environmental safety challenges. Initially adopted by logistics and manufacturing companies, the service has since expanded nationwide, with around 70 units currently in operation.
